Brio / Legal
Privacy Policy
Effective Date:
A fishing journal should help you remember a trip, not create a profile of you. Brio keeps your fishing records locally on your device. Here is how that approach applies to your photos, trip details, permissions, and communications with us.
Data Collection
Brio stores the details you add to your journal so you can review past outings. Storing an entry on your device does not mean that we receive it.
- Fishing records: Photos of fishing spots, weather and water conditions, bait, techniques, catches, releases, dates, and any notes you enter remain in local app storage. Entries may reveal personal information if you choose to include it.
- Personal information: A locally maintained fishing log does not require you to provide us with a name, email address, or account profile. When you contact support, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you send.
- Device and usage information: Brio does not send us a stream of your device identifiers, fishing activity, or in-app usage for analytics or advertising. Technical details you voluntarily include in a support request may help us investigate a problem.
Photos, location, and other permissions
If a feature needs access to your camera or photo library, iOS will request permission. That access is used to attach images to your journal; you can limit or revoke it in device settings. Selected images may contain embedded details, such as the time or location at which they were taken.
Location details you enter are part of your local record. If an available feature requests device location, you can decline or change that permission in iOS settings. Brio does not need access to your contacts to maintain a fishing journal.
Third-party code
Brio does not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs to collect your fishing logs or track your activity. Any supporting software components used for local app functions do not change the local-storage approach described here.
How Information Is Used
Your journal entries support the functions you expect: recording an outing, attaching a photo, and looking back at conditions, techniques, catches, and releases. They are not used by us to build advertising audiences or marketing profiles.
Support correspondence is used to answer your questions, troubleshoot reported issues, and maintain a record of the assistance provided. We do not sell or rent personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Limited support information may be handled by providers that deliver our communications, or disclosed where legally required. Such disclosures do not give us access to fishing records that remain solely on your device.
Storage, Security, and Retention
Fishing records are saved within Brio’s local storage on your iOS device, rather than in a Brio-hosted journal database. Depending on your device settings, app data may also be included in operating-system backups. Those backup copies are controlled through your device and backup settings, not through Brio.
Local records benefit from the operating system’s app isolation and device security protections. Using a device passcode, keeping iOS current, and securing your backups helps protect them. No storage method can guarantee protection against every risk, especially on an unlocked or compromised device.
Entries remain until you delete them or remove the app’s local data. Uninstalling the app generally removes its local records, but does not necessarily erase previously created backups or original images in your photo library. Manage those copies separately.
Support messages are retained only as long as reasonably needed to resolve the request, maintain necessary support records, and meet applicable legal obligations. We do not apply that retention period to local fishing logs, which you control.
Third-Party Services
Some interactions occur outside the local journal. Your email provider processes messages you send to support, and our communication providers may process those messages to deliver and manage replies. Device platforms may separately process app distribution, backup, or diagnostic information under their own settings and policies.
Visiting edenic.briothrill.fun is also separate from saving a fishing trip. Website hosting infrastructure may process ordinary connection information, such as an IP address, requested page, browser details, and access time, to deliver pages and protect the site.
Providers have their own privacy practices for information they handle independently. We do not authorize them to use your locally saved fishing journal for their advertising. A future feature that introduces a materially different information flow will be addressed in an updated policy and, where required, a permission or consent request.
Your Choices and Privacy Rights
Control begins on your device: review and correct your entries in Brio, delete records you no longer want, and manage app permissions through iOS settings. We cannot retrieve, edit, or remotely erase a journal that exists only on your device.
Depending on your location and the applicability of laws such as the GDPR and CCPA, you may also have rights to:
- Access personal information we hold about you and obtain a copy.
- Correct inaccurate information or request its deletion.
- Restrict or object to certain processing and request portability where applicable.
- Withdraw consent for processing that relies on consent, without affecting earlier lawful processing.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. Brio does not engage in those activities.
- Raise a concern with the appropriate data protection authority and exercise your rights without unlawful discrimination.
For information held in support correspondence, email support@brio.com with your request. We may need proportionate verification before releasing or deleting information and will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. Do not send your full journal or sensitive documents unless they are necessary to address your request.
Children’s Privacy
Brio is intended for adults aged 18 and older, not for children or teenagers under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
In accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a minor has sent us personal information, contact support so we can investigate and delete information under our control as appropriate. We cannot access records stored only on that person’s device.
Policy Updates
We may revise this policy at any time to reflect changes in Brio, operational practices, or legal requirements. The current version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
For material changes, we will provide a prominent notice on our website or within the app, as appropriate. If a change requires your consent under applicable law, we will ask for it before the affected processing begins.
